Brandon Byers' team wins the Digital Construction 2021 Hackathon
This past weekend Brandon teamed up with researchers and professionals in Finland and Lithuania to compete at the Digital Construction 2021 Hackathon hosted by Garage48 as a pre-event for the World Summit on the Digital Built Environment (WDBE2021).
His team, Circomy, competed in the challenge: Accelerating the transition towards carbon neutral built environment – Opportunities in the circular economy of buildings, hosted by the Ministry of Environment of Finland, and won the competition! His team's approach was to tokenize materials planned for reuse that will allow them to be sold on virtual platforms, even before they are dismantled from the building. As emerging standards for environmental impact meet legal frameworks for distributed parties and digital advances like electronic signatures, then we can begin to imagine a more sustainable future where used materials may grow into a commodity market paralleling those of virgin building materials. Circomy has won the opportunity for an accelerator program by KIRAHub to develop their project towards the Download New European Bauhaus goes Digital event as well as presenting to the WDBE2021 event.
