Welcome Beril Önalan

Beril Önalan joined the Chair Circular Engineering for Architecture in December. She will be looking into digital innovation for circularity in the field of digital fabrication and how to link digitally fabricated buildings to circular economy principles

Previously, Beril has worked as a research assistant at Block Research Group and participated in the project on sustainable formworks for the lightweight concrete funicular Rippmann Floor System.

Beril has a background in architecture with a focus on digital fabrication and robotics in construction. She received her master’s in architecture from Middle East Technical University in 2020 and Master of Advanced Studies in Architecture and Digital Fabrication from ETH Zürich in 2021 with the master thesis “Skin and Bone: Eggshell 3D Printed Formwork with Mesh Mould Reinforcement”.

The Chair of Circular Engineering for Architecture (CEA) develops research on matching reused architectural materials with people and projects through digitalization for a circular built environment. For more information visit our webpage.
