Welcome Martin Bucher
Martin Juan José Bucher just joined the Chair of Circular Engineering for Architecture (CEA) in 2023 and will work on 3D Reconstruction and Volume Estimation problems within the “Mapping Ukraine” project as a Research Assistant
Martin graduated with an MSc in Computer Science at ETH Zurich last April (2022) with a focus on Machine Perception, Computer Vision, and Deep Learning and has further collaborated with the Design++ initiative for his master’s thesis on Performance-Based Generative Design. In the past, he already worked as a Software Engineer for a big software company in Zurich and as a Research Assistant on applied Natural Language Processing (NLP) problems in Political Science as well as Automated Surgery Planning within the Research in Orthopedic Computer Science (ROCS) group at Balgrist University Hospital. Martin is also the co-founder of a newly founded startup within ETH’s Student Project House (SPH) initiative evolving around a circular economy platform for secondhand goods, alleviating recent breakthroughs in AI and Computer Vision research. He is thrilled to meet all the faces behind IBI soon — and very eager to contribute towards the exciting research taking place at IBI, although coming from a more technical background!
The Chair of Circular Engineering for Architecture (CEA) develops research on matching reused architectural materials with people and projects through digitalization for a circular built environment. For more information visit our webpage.
