The Architectural Record features an interview by Matthew Marani with Prof. Dr. Catherine De Wolf, highlighting her research on the critical shift from linear to circular construction to tackle building waste. Her interdisciplinary team at CEA Lab is using AI-powered software to match salvaged building components with new construction needs. Catherine notes that while circular construction is mainly seen in niche projects like the renovation of Centre Pompidou where she participated in making the reuse of the bent glass panels a reality, together with Elioth and Maximum Architecture (who won the Trophée Eiffel 2022 in the Reuse category for it), broader industry adoption requires efficient material connections among all stakeholders.
