Hedwig Heinsman to lecture on ‘reincarnating architecture’ on 12th Nov 2024 in Kunsthalle Zürich

Artist, architect, and entrepreneur, Hedwig Heinsman envisions alternative approaches to shape future habitats through circularity.

This lecture is part of a series organised by Prof. Dr. Catherine De Wolf for her fall 2024 course and the AI, Art and Architecture (AAA) Experiments, offering students and the public a diverse range of global insights on sustainable design and construction. Hedwig co-founded Aectual, a global platform for 3D printed circular architecture using waste materials in an infinite loop, recognized by Forbes for its innovative upcycling approach. Aectual works globally with renowned designers and brands like Hermès, Tiffany and Co., and Nike. Previously, Heinsman co-founded DUS architects focusing on community-driven design and is known for pioneering projects such as the 3D Print Canal House. The work of DUS and Aectual have been awarded widely, amongst others with the prestigious Amsterdam Award for the Arts and the 2024 LVMH Innovation Award for Sustainability & Greentech, and is presented at museums internationally, including the V&A and the Rijksmuseum. Heinsman earned a cum laude Master’s degree in Architecture from Delft University of Technology and studied at Aalto University in Finland. The lecture will take place at 17h15 at the CEA ‘Mehrwerk’ structure in Kunsthalle Zürich, Limmatstrasse 270, 8005 Zürich, and is open to the public.
