Dr. Marirena Kladeftira to lecture on low-impact construction methods leveraged by 3D printing and robotic technology on 19th Nov 2024 in Kunsthalle Zürich

At the intersection of computational design and digital fabrication, Marirena’s work investigates new potentials of material properties and design processes, and crafts synergistic relations between humans and machines during the making process.

Marirena

This lecture is part of a series organised by Prof. Dr. Catherine De Wolf for her fall 2024 course and the AI, Art and Architecture (AAA) Experiments, offering students and the public a diverse range of global insights on sustainable design and construction. Currently, Marirena is a postdoctoral researcher at EPFL, jointly appointed in the Lab for Creative Computation and the Structural Xploration Lab. Her current project focuses on human-robot collaborative workflows for structural reconfiguration and reuse of damaged timber structures. She earned her Ph.D. at ETH Zurich as an NCCR DFAB fellow, leading the research on 3D-printed connections for ultralightweight spatial structures. The lecture will take place at 15h15 at the CEA ‘Mehrwerk’ structure in Kunsthalle Zürich, Limmatstrasse 270, 8005 Zürich, and is open to the public.
