Virginia San Fratello to lecture on innovative 3D printing and sustainable design on 5th Nov 2024 in Kunsthalle Zürich
As an educator, designer and creative technologist, Virginia San Fratello is dedicated to inspiring and challenging traditional design paradigms through additive manufacturing.
This lecture is part of a series organised by Prof. Dr. Catherine De Wolf for her fall 2024 course and the AI, Art and Architecture (AAA) Experiments, offering students and the public a diverse range of global insights on sustainable design and construction. Currently serving as Chair of The Department of Design at San José State University, Virginia runs a creative practice, Rael San Fratello, which was named an Emerging Voice by The Architectural League of New York, and awarded the Beazley Design of the Year in 2021. San Fratello is the co-author of Printing Architecture: Innovative Recipes for 3D Printing, a partner in Emerging Objects, and a co-founder of Forust. Her work is featured internationally in institutions such as The Museum of Modern Art and LACMA, and the Design Museum in London. The lecture will take place at 17h15 at the CEA ‘Mehrwerk’ structure in Kunsthalle Zürich, Limmatstrasse 270, 8005 Zürich, and is open to the public.
