Catherine De Wolf's book "The Art of Connecting" is now available
Catherine De Wolf’s latest book, The Art of Connecting: Die Wiederverwendung der Huber Pavilions / Reuse of the Huber Pavilions, is now available at DETAIL Verlag. The Art of Connecting explores circular construction through the reuse of materials from ETH Zurich’s Huber Pavilions. One of the projects described in this book, CircÛbi, was awarded the ArcAward in 2023 and the crQlr Award’s New Academy Prize in 2024.
Catherine De Wolf’s latest book, The Art of Connecting: Die Wiederverwendung der Huber Pavilions / Reuse of the Huber Pavilions, has been published by DETAIL Verlag. This book presents an exploration of circular construction, emphasizing the reuse of materials. Through a detailed case study of ETH Zurich’s Huber Pavilions, it illustrates how making connections at different scales is crucial for circular construction.
CircÛbi, one of the featured projects, showcases the potential of material reuse in a teaching project at ETH Zurich, in collaboration with Prof. Momoyo Kaijima. CircÛbi demonstrated how disassembled structural elements from the Huber Pavilions could be reconfigured into new architectural forms. The student-led design and construction was awarded the ArcAward in 2023 and the crQlr Award’s New Academy Prize in 2024.
Beyond documenting the reuse of the Huber Pavilions, The Art of Connecting provides a reflection on the role of circularity in the built environment.
